Visiting traditional fishing villages and the east of the country will give you a glimpse into life in the quiet, rural Scotland. This is perfectly completed by the discovery of St. Andrews’ vibrant town.

Heading north, we reach the Firth of Forth shortly, with three bridges over it – the first completed in the 19th century, the second in the 20th and the latest in the 21st century – represent three centuries of engineering excellence.

By crossing the bay, we immediately find ourselves in the ‘Kingdom of Fife’, which has been home to kings for centuries and today connects a range of charming fishing villages.

Arriving at our first stop you can have a pleasant walk through the village of Aberdour, where you can ponder in the harbor and take a look at the local castle, which is one of the oldest in Scotland by dating back to the 1200s.

Continuing our tour along the shores of the Forth, we reach the town of Anstruther, which is perhaps the most popular and vibrant of the aforementioned fishing villages.

After discovering the local specialties for ourselves, we soon arrive in the town of the patron saint of Scotland, to St. Andrews. Although most people associate the town with golf, the city can actually offer much more to those interested. During our longer stay here, everyone will have plenty of time to explore Scotland’s oldest university, the ruined, mysterious cathedral and castle, and choose from local, fresh fish delicacies.

After hours of sightseeing, we will drive through the green slopes of Lomond-hills to visit the charming village of Falkland. The narrow streets and tiny cottages bring to mind a real fairytale world.

Turning south from here, we continue towards Edinburgh, and along the way we pass several places worth mentioning, as does Lochleven Castle, where Mary, the Queen of Scots was once held. We close our journey around 6 in the afternoon.

Fresh Fish & Chips. Rolling Hills. Home of Golf.
