Our two-day trip holds fantastic experiences for those who loves the castles and palaces. As we line up the architectural masterpieces, we and immerse ourselves in the amazing Scottish landscape and local legends.
Departing from the capital, we have to travel less than an hour to immerse reach our first adventure. It’s not just going to be a traditional castle visit, we have to get into a boat first to cross the lake that hides Loch Leven Castle. Arriving on an island resting in the middle of the lake, we can spend a short time around the castle and enjoy the special location.
Once we are on land again, we continue on to our next destination. The small, romantic village of Falkland was once the site of royal hunts. Thanks to the renovations, the 16th-century palace is still in great condition today.
Crossing the kingdom of Fife, we reach one of the most beautiful cities in the country, St. Andrews. Here we have a longer rest, during which we have the opportunity to visit the local castle and cathedral, and we are free to spend some time exploring the historic city for ourselves and recharge with a delicious lunch.
Refreshed, we continue the journey and head for the next castle. The ruins of Dunnotar on the coastal cliff offer a wonderful view. The medieval fortress still radiates history and captivates the visitor.
Towards the end of our day we arrive in the town of Aberdeen where our accommodation is located. After occupying the accommodation we can spend a few hours of free time in the city.
On our second day, after breakfast, we will take a short drive to the famous Fyvie Castle, one of the most haunted places in Scotland.
From here, we visit Culloden, home to the last battle of the Scottish independence wars, which preserves sad memories from the past.
We will spend our lunch break at the northernmost point of our journey, Inverness. As the fastest growing city in Western Europe, the place always offers a vibrant and pleasant atmosphere.
After a relaxed lunch, we travel home, but on the way we stop at Dalwhinnie whiskey distillery, where ‘Water of Life’ has been steadily produced since the late 1800s. After taking part in a professional tour of the factory, we will of course end the program with a whiskey tasting.
After the best possible finishing program, our journey will take us straight back to the capital, where we will close our day in the evening.
